Strong minds for young men:
peer mentoring project (phase 1)

We're delighted to be working in collaboration with Gloucestershire College to create and deliver a pilot project aimed at improving the mental health and well-being of male students. It is our belief that no one is better placed to support young men than young men themselves, and with this in mind, the project centres around the development of a sustainable peer mentoring programme to enable young men to support their peers.
Over the last few months, male students have completed stage one of the project, engaging in workshops delivered by our amazing charity partner, Richard Pomfrett, to explore the myths surrounding masculinity and the barriers associated with talking about their mental health. The lads' engagement and feedback has made us really proud and we can't wait to see the next stage of the project continue in the autumn term. Clink here to listen to what the students had to say about why young men struggle.

Everlast gym:
in memory of jay
On Saturday 5th July 2025, Everlast Gym in Cheltenham held a fun-filled day of fun, fitness and fundraising in memory of their much-loved member and friend, Jay, who took his own life earlier in the Spring.

The event raised over £1400 for the Archie Matthews Trust. We're massively grateful for the support of Les (who completed a wheelchair marathon), Rhys and his merry men for the marathon swim and to all of the members who completed the sled-pushing challenge! Special thanks also go to Jo (Gym Manager), Hannah and Tara for their help in organising the event. We are sure that Jay would be really proud of your efforts.

New community partnership
We're thrilled to announce a new community partnership between the AMT and Bishops Cleeve Football Club and Cleeve Colts FC.

Over the coming months, we'll be working with the club to raise awareness of the charity's work through their summer events and provide training and support for managers and coaches on understanding neurodivergence. The club are hugely proactive to be inclusive and in supporting young men's mental health, already providing well-being football sessions and disability football.

We're hoping to be a key partner in them being recognised as a model of good practice by the FA and other local organisations.

gloucester half marathon 2025
What an amazing effort from all of our runners at the Gloucester Half Marathon on Sunday 30th March.
The whole team did themselves proud, raising over £7000 for the Trust...the sore feet and achy legs were definitely worth it! Well done and huge thanks to everyone that took part and sponsored us.
